Rock Island County Civil War Soldiers Index

The Rock Island County Historical Society Civil War Soldiers Index is a listing comprised off all of the known Civil War Soldiers buried in Rock Island County cemeteries, and those from Rock Island County that died on the battlefield or from wounds or from disease and are listed on the Rock Island County Civil War Monument located at the Rock Island County Court House. The search results of the database lists soldier's ID in the database, regiment and company, rank, date of death, and cemetery of burial.  When known, the death and burial location of soldiers that died or were buried outside the county, such as on the battlefield or hospital have been noted.

The Rock Island County Historical Society is currently copying the obituaries of the soldiers in this database. Civil War Soldier obituaries can be requested for a $5.00 fee for per obituary, to help off set the costs of preserving our collection. To obtain a copy of a Civil War Soldier's obituary located in this index, please fill out the research form, indicating the name of the soldier and death date. Obituaries will be sent via e-mail after receiving the $5.00 fee and Research Request Form. Obituaries can be sent via postal mail, only if a SASE is included with originals request and fee.
