Historical Donations
The Rock Island County Historical Society collects and preserves artifacts, archival records, books, clothing, and other materials of historical significance relating primarily to Rock Island County. As we are not funded by any tax dollars, and as funding is limited, we rely primarily on the generosity of individuals and groups to preserve our history.
If you are interested in donating historical material and artifacts to the Society, please contact us at (309) 764-8590 to determine if your material has historical significance for our collections. All historical donations to the society are tax deductible, as we are a 501(c)(3) Illinois Nonprofit Corporation. However, the Society does not provide monetary appraisals or authenticating of historical materials. Assistance in these areas may be obtained by contacting local antique and other specialty appraisers.
Monetary Donations
As the Rock Island County Historical Society is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we depend on membership dues, gifts and donations to operate our facilities. We receive no funds from the city, state or national government entities. As you have
read on other pages, we have a rather large facility to maintain, and any support is greatly appreciated. All of our
officers and staff are volunteers with the exception of the Director.
If you feel that you can support our effort to preserve the history of Rock Island County for future generations, your membership, gift or donation will be appreciated. Bequests are most welcome. Please contact your lawyer for information.
