Planning a Visit
The Rock Island County Historical Society is open Wednesday - Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Appointments can be made to use the library during closed hours under special circumstances by contacting the library. W
e encourage out of town and first-time researchers to contact the Rock Island County Historical Society, to discuss your researching query, and how our collection can be used to help you in your search. By contacting the Society, you allow us to prepare resources for your visit, so we can be sure that we have helped you to the
best of our abilities. Our experienced volunteers are happy to help you in your research, and we look forward to your visit.
Upon arrival, non-members will be required to fill out our
visitor registration form
, sign our registry, and pay the $5.00 entrance fee before researching. Members must sign the our registry each time you visit the library. Returning researches, who are not members must sign our registry, and pay the $5.00 entrance fee. Non-member researchers may at anytime decide to join the Society for only $30.00 for the calendar year.
In the library, researchers may bring in a laptop computer, loose notepaper, and pencils. WiFi is available in the researching area, and public
computers are available. As stated in our
Use Policy
, cameras, scanners, drinks, food, and pens are not allowed in the library. Computer bags, purses, and any other type of bag must be placed in one of secured lockers located near the entrance/exit of our library, to protect your materials and our collections.
